Building Stronger Communities, One Neighbor at a Time
Do Gooders of Hampton Roads began on February 6, 2015, during a snowy day in Hampton, Virginia. Founder Deena Moore Hughes was at home with her son, Leon, and close friend, Vondreka Fox, talking about how they could make a difference.
A Facebook post shared by Tanesha Semerzier showed people tying scarves to trees in New York’s Central Park for those experiencing homelessness. That simple act of kindness sparked a conversation—and an idea to do good right here at home.
Inspired by that example and Deena’s experience with Hampton’s Neighborhood Commission, Do Gooders grew from a living-room conversation into a community effort.
Our mission is to foster the spirit of doing good for others—helping each other and creating an infectious spirit of spreading love throughout the community.
